Dorignac’s 12 RECIPES Of CHRISTMAS

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me…the 12 Drink Recipes Of The Holidays! Explore 12 tasty concoctions that will tastefully get you into the holiday spirits. Best of all, you’ll find all the ingredients right here at Dorignac’s!

THE 1ST RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: EGG NOG (BUTCH STYLE)

Ingredients for 16 drinks
6 eggs, separated
2 cups of brandy
2 tsps of vanilla
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of super fine sugar
1/4 tsp of salt
Nutmeg (it’s not egg nog without nutmeg)

How To Prepare
1. Beat egg yolks, 1/4 cup sugar, nutmeg, salt and vanilla together until very thick and light yellow.
2. Slowly beat in brandy (rum and whiskey are also popular alternatives) and milk.
3. Cover and chill overnight.
4. Shortly before serving, beat the egg whites to soft peaks.
5. Gradually beat in remaining 1/4 cup sugar, beat this mixture to soft peaks again,
creating a meringue-like cream.
6. Then slowly pour this cream over the chilled brandy mixture, folding in gently.
7. Serve eggnog in a glass or mug, and add a pinch of nutmeg over the top.

THE 2ND RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: WASSAIL

Ingredients for 12 drinks
2 bottles dry sherry
1/2 cup brandy (yes, another recipe with brandy)
6 egg whites
3 egg yolks
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cardamom
Apple slices
Cinnamon sticks
Cloves

How To Prepare
1. Place the water and spices into a saucepan.
2. Simmer for 10 minutes, without allowing it to reach a boil and stirring occasionally.
3. Add the sherry and sugar and continue to heat and stir for a few minutes.
4. Remove from heat.
5. Beat the egg whites and yolks separately.
6. Stir the sherry mix and egg yolks together in a heat resistant punch bowl or wassail bowl.
7. Add the brandy (that you got from the Dorignac’s liquor dept., of course).
8. Whisk in the egg whites until it’s foamy.
9. Serve in a punch bowl that’s garnished with apple or slices of other fruit.

THE 3RD RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: HOT BUTTERED YUMMY RUM

Ingredients for one drink
2 ounces of “yummy” dark rum
1 small slice soft butter
1 tsp brown sugar
Optional spices to taste: ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, allspice
Vanilla extract
Hot water (as opposed to cold water at the North Pole)

How To Prepare
1. Place the butter, sugar and spices at the bottom of a coffee glass or mug.
2. Mix well.
3. Pour in the “yummy” rum and hot water.
4. Stir.

THE 4TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: TOM & JERRY

Ingredients for one T&J
1 ounce of dark rum (from a grocery store that starts with the letter D)
1 ounce of cognac or brandy (also from that grocery store that starts with the letter D)
1 egg
1 tsp of powdered sugar or 1/2 ounce of simple syrup (which is 1 part water to 1 part sugar)
Hot milk or hot water
Grated nutmeg

How To Prepare & Enjoy
1. Separate egg white from egg yolk & beat each separately.
2. Blend the beaten eggs together & place into a coffee glass.
3. Add the sugar or simple syrup, “yummy” dark rum & brandy.
4. Fill with hot milk or hot water.
5. Stir well.
6. Garnish with a pinch of grated nutmeg & enjoy!

THE 5TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: HOT TODDY

Ingredients for one drink
1 ½ ounces of whiskey, rum or brandy (any of which you’ll find at Dorignac’s)
1 tbsp of honey
1 cup of hot water
1 tea bag
Juice from ¼ lemon

How To Prepare
1. Heat water in tea kettle or microwave.
2. Add tea bag and allow to steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
3. During Step 2, prep your mug or coffee glass by filling it with warm water.
4. Once glass is warm, pour out the water and coat the bottom with honey.
5. Add liquor and squeeze juice from ¼ lemon.
6. When tea has steeped, pour it into the prepared glass and stir.

THE 6TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: MULLED WINE

Ingredients for 4 to 6 drinks
One bottle (750 mL) of red wine (we recommend a Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Zinfandel)
One orange (peeled and sliced; keep the peel for cooking)
8-10 cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
1/3 cup honey or sugar
1/4 cup of brandy
1 tsp fresh or 2 tsp dried ground ginger (allspice can be substituted)

How To Prepare
1. Combine all ingredients (including that orange peel you kept) into a large pot or slow cooker.
2. Gently warm on low-to-medium heat for 20-25 minutes. Be sure to avoid it boiling.
3. Stir occasionally to make sure the honey/sugar has dissolved entirely.
4. When the wine is steaming and the ingredients have been well blended, it’s ready.
5. Ladle the mulled wine (without the seasonings) into mugs.

THE 7TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: BRANDY ALEXANDER

Ingredients for one drink
1 ounce brandy
1 ounce dark crème de cacao
1 ounce cream
Ground nutmeg

How To Prepare
1. Pour brandy, crème de cacao and cream into cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
2. Shake, shake, shake.
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
4. Garnish with a pinch of nutmeg.
5. Cheers!

THE 8TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: POINSETTIA

Ingredients for one drink
3 ounces of cranberry juice
1/2 ounce of cointreau or triple sec orange liqueur
Champagne (we have plenty of that to choose from)

How To Prepare
1. Pour orange liqueur and cranberry juice into a chilled Champagne flute.
2. Stir, stir, stir.
3. Top with Champagne.
4. Cheers!

THE 9TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: CANDY CANE MARTINI

Ingredients for one martini
1 1/4 ounces vanilla vodka
1 1/4 ounces white crème de cacao
3/4 ounce peppermint schnapps
Peppermint candy

How To Prepare
1. Mix vanilla vodka, white creme de cacao and peppermint schnapps in a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
2. Shake, shake, shake.
3. Strain into a cocktail glass.
4. Add peppermint candy to make it peppermint-y.
5. Cheers!

THE 10TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT MARGARITA

Ingredients for one margarita
6 parts milk
1 ½ parts agave tequila
1 part hot chocolate powder
½ part peppermint schnapps
Candy cane

How To Prepare
1. Mix all ingredinets into a shaker filled with ice cubes.
2. Shake, shake, shake.
3. Pour into glass.
4. Add candy cane to make it Christmas-y.
5. Cheers!

THE 11TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: MRS. CLAUS WILDSIDE PUNCH

Ingredients for one punchbowl of fun
25 ounces of X-Rated Fusion liqueur
25 ounces of your favorite tequila
25 ounces of pomegranate juice
25 ounces of cranberry juice
Lime twists

How To Prepare
1. Combine ingredients in a punch bowl.
2. Stir, stir, stir.
3. Pour into glasses with ice.
4. Stir, stir, stir.
5. Garnish with lime twist.
6. Cheers!

THE 12TH RECIPE OF CHRISTMAS: GRINCH MARTINI

Ingredients for one martini
2 ounces of melon liqueur
1 tsp of simple syrup (which is 1 part water to 1 part sugar)
1 maraschino cherry
1⁄2 ounce of lemon juice

How To Prepare
Pour ingredients into a martini shaker with ice cubes.
Shake, shake, shake.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a Maraschino cherry.
